The position I'm currently serving in with AmeriCorps is that of a Volunteer Manager. I recruit people from the community to volunteer in classrooms as guest speakers, tutors, and so forth. Each volunteer fills out a form (pretty detailed) goes through a background screening, and stuff. All this information goes into their record in the computer. I also send out a monthly newsletter to everyone.
So Thursday I sent out the newsletter and forgot to check a certain item, so not everything happened cleanly. My boss came over and said--do this and this, and then re-send.
The "do this and this" completely deleted 367 volunteer records from the database. Gone. Kappoot. Luckily there was a way to get their names and actual volunteer information abck again, but everything else? Gone. We're (I say we're, huh, I'm) going back into old emails, paper records and so on, attempting to re-build everything.
367 records. It's been 48 hours and I've finished 32.
My brain is numb.
